GRP Endorses Weekly Anti-War, Anti-Kerry Picket at Boston Office
Endorsement Approved by the Administrative Committee, February 3rd, 2006
Every Friday at Senator John Kerry's office in Boston, an anti-war picket takes place, rightly holding John Kerry responsible and party to the immoral and illegal war in Iraq. Kerry was among Democrats who, in 2002, voted to authorize President Bush to conduct his invasion. The Democratic Party has neither made guarantees nor unified statements condemning the action in Iraq, and therefore is part of the problem with the violent, corporate-driven action taking place in Iraq. The Green-Rainbow Party, the Massachusetts affiliate of the Green Party of the United States, endorses the weekly picket action at Senator John Kerry's office, sponsored by Not One More (NOM).
The official flier appears below:
Bush Lied.
Kerry Complied.
Thousands Died.
Demonstrate at JOHN KERRY’S OFFICE
EVERY FRIDAY. 4:30 – 5:30 pm.
WHERE: JOHN KERRY’S OFFICE, 1 BOWDOIN SQUARE. (CORNER OF BOWDOIN AND CAMBRIDGE ST. IN BOSTON BETWEEN CITY HALL AND MASS. GENERAL HOSP.)
WE PLAN TO CONTINUE THIS PICKET ON A WEEKLY BASIS, SAME TIME, SAME PLACE EACH FRIDAY.
“Our” Senator, John Kerry, voted for the War on Iraq, an “authorization” of transfer of power to the executive which was itself unconstitutional. John Kerry campaigned in 2004 on a pro-war platform of raising more troops. John Kerry, like most every major figure in the Democratic establishment, has joined the Republican establishment, in calling for “staying the course,” that is continuing the War on Iraq. And most recently Kerry along with Hillary Clinton called on Bush to get tougher with Iran, setting the stage for more conflict. The War Party has both Republican and Democratic wings.
The picket will address only the war and the need to end it right now in order to avoid any more loss of life – American or Iraqi. Our slogan is the same as Cindy Sheehan’s, “Not One More.” We urge everyone to join this picket. All politicians who do not support immediate withdrawal from Iraq must be on notice that we will not tolerate their stance.
Some would say that we should concentrate on Bush and ignore the Democrats who voted for the war in 2002 and continue to support it now. But in the last presidential election, there was no debate on the war because Bush and Kerry both favored it. Do we want that to happen again – to have no antiwar candidate? It will, if we allow Dems to embrace the war as they run for president.
That would be a mistake and immoral to boot. It would be a declaration that as long as you are a Democrat you can be for an illegal and immoral war and we will support you. There are many conservatives who are against the war. But they have been told that the antiwar movement opposes the war on Iraq ONLY because it is a Republican war, Bush’s war. We can show them that this is not true by speaking out against both Republican AND Democratic hawks. Bush, Kerry and H. Clinton are all supporters of the criminal war on Iraq. This is a bipartisan war. Either the Dems or Republicans must turn against it, or we need to dump them and get a third party. Kerry and Bush both have blood on their hands.
Sponsored by NOM (“Not One More”) and endorsed by the Green/Rainbow Party of Mass. (www.green-rainbow.org), the Libertarian Party of Mass.
