Decisions reached at 29 June 2008 State Com meeting

This is a quick summary of decisions reached at the 29 June 2008
State Com
meeting.

Detailed minutes will follow later.

After restoration of quorum prior to the originally scheduled
adjournment
, the following decisions were made:

1. Delegate allocation:

Proposal "I" on Confirming Delegate Allocation submitted by the co-
chairs
and Proposal "A" on Clarifying obligations of GPUS delegates
submitted by
Jim Hammerman and Mike Heichman were both passed by consensus. Nat
Fortune
served as an additional co-sponsor and the floor advocate for
proposal A.

One result of these proposals is that a certain number delegates were
allocated to Nader as proposed CDLC allocation, then upon passage of
proposal A, were deemed to have been released, thus becoming uncommitted
delegates.

The following changes were made to proposal I prior to passage:

Deletion of paragraphs 3 and 4 of the text starting "any candidate
who… "
and "all members of Ad-Com"

Addition of phrase "whose delegates were subsequently approved on
June 29th.

Addition of the following sentence at the end of the text: "State
Committee reaffirms that the sole purpose of the current online
meeting is
to approve and select additional delegates to the convention and
that the
format of that meeting be changed tone that enables that single
purpose."

The following change was made to proposal A prior to passage:

Addition of the sentence "This hereby amends the delegate selection
plan"
to the end of paragraph (1) of the proposal.

2. Party resources for presidential campaign

Proposal "K" Green Party Presidential Campaign submitted by John
Andrews,
Jill Stein, Merelice and Nat Fortune was passed by consensus with the
following modifications:

In part (a), the following sentence was added: "We will supply the
ballot
line to whomever is nominated by the Green Party National Convention for
President, if any."

In part (b), replace "no party resources" with "no state party
resources"

Proposal "G" supporting the Green Party's Ticket and Building the GRP
proceeded to a vote but did not pass.

3. database proposals

Proposals F and H were not taken up due to the absence of the co-
sponsors
and lack of revised text for consideration.

4. ad com proposals and actions

Jill Stein was elected as a diversity representative to Ad-Com by a vote
of 11 – 0 – 3.

Proposal "L" on ad-com size change proposed by Merelice and Nat was
adopted by consensus as originally written. Implementation of this
proposal requires adoption of new bylaws at the State Convention; the
change in ad-com size will not take place till then.

5. virtual state com meeting

State Com appointed new co-facilitators to the June 14th online virtual
state com meeting currently taking place: Wanda Boeke and Eli
Beckerman to
relieve Jamie O'Keefe, who becomes the former facilitator of that
meeting.

6. appointment of new state com members

State com agreed by consensus to the following proposal adopted as a
urgent action: appointment of the following new members to state com,
with
appointments to begin July 15th, subject to confirmation by the
appointed
members of their continued willingness to serve:

Lyn Mesa

Sandra Harris

Lisa Richards

Amanda Sanderson

Terezinaj Cardosa

David Maceswski

Dave Schwab was not included since he is moving out of state next week.

7. other proposals

no other proposals were able to be taken up in the time available before
adjournment.
