[ComCom] Summer GRP News

Hi,
I will send a couple of separate emails with possible newsletter
material. One is about Gerthy Lahens's project for Haiti which has
received two funding awards. The other is a couple of photos of when I
was on an eco-tour in Costa Rica. They might provide some visuals. (I
could write an environment-related article about it, but it's not
directly party related. Deep cutlines for the photos would be
sufficient.)
I suggest that the November election results highlight Grace's media
coverage (can she supply the number of media hits she got?) and the
fact that Jill received the highest number of votes of any Green
candidate NATIONWIDE, which most folks have no way of knowing.
Whoever writes about the Northpoint case, I trust will highlight the
role of the GRP (according to Elie) in that business.
I question why there is an article lumping together the war in Iraq,
Palestine, and Sudan and whether we would do justice to any one of the
countries by doing this. (Was this the intent of listing them
together?) I wonder whether we have anything NEW to say at this point
about Palestine and Sudan, especially since StateCom has already
expressed a desire to re-visit the Palestine statement and there is
concern about supplementing the Sudan statement with something clearly
more compassionate toward the victims.
Regarding the war, I would not confine myself to the Democrats in
talking about the shameful inaction regarding withdrawing from Iraq. I
don't believe that we build ourselves up by tearing down the Dems
(though I know others strongly disagree with me). We should be able to
articulate what we are FOR in such a way as to provide a clear
contrast so that people react by saying, That's what I believe, too.
That is a more challenging task -- to have people be FOR us and not
merely ANTI the others.
If there is space, I would like to propose getting permission from The
Christian Science Monitor to reprint an oped entitled. "Why I am not a
moderate Muslim." It ran on Monday, April 23.
