Rich, and others, regarding Rich's point to the
statecom list:

<<How do we distinuish between someone who resigns and
someone who retroactively withdraws their candidacy?>>

Our bylaws do spell out the very scenario we had this
year with Julie Saad. It would appear that the
drafters of our bylaws already discussed this
distinction to some degree.

GRP Bylaws 9.4 ....A member may only be elected to one
position but may run for up to three positions. In the
event a candidate wins more than one position, she
shall choose the position she desires and the votes
for the other positions will be recounted to determine
the candidate selected....

The trick is, with the GPUS Rep positions, the
position of Alternate GPUS Rep is also on the ballot.
I think this may be where Rich sees a need for further
clarification.

One of my goals as GRP Secretary will be to endeavor
to make sure our procedures are clear and adequate and
properly documented. Some things need to be in the
Bylaws, some things do not need to be in the Bylaws
but rather polices/procedures. Some important bits may
need to be documented in both Bylaws and procedures.

Jim
