Minutes - Convention Planning Committee Teleconference
10/4/2004 9-10 PM
Participants: Jon Levy, Rob Crowner, Jim Bosman, Anne
Donahue, Gil Obler, Lisa Richards

Next Meeting: Sunday, November 14th, 2 PM. Burger King
"Community Room" (d'you want fries with that?), King
Street, Northampton

Marching Orders: Research locations! Criteria:
A. Must have no catering requirement
B. Must have public transportation or we need to
organize and provide transportation
C. A non-smoking venue
D. Multiple rooms (or at least two room)

A campground in the eastern part of the state would be
preferable if we are going to have to provide
transportation.

Note: A campground in Ashby a couple of years ago
worked well, but there was no public transportation.
We would have to organize buses or other creative
means of getting people there. There were cabins and a
barn and there was like a mess hall. Ask Rose Gonzales
how many people were there and how much it cost.

Question: For using a church, would we be able to use
it on Sunday morning including fellowship hall and
Sunday school rooms if necessary?

Other points:
Girl Scout or Boy Scout Camp would be good.
Do we need to have it be in the same place both days?
We need to find a place early enough to get it in the
winter newsletter and get the newsletter out earlier,
preferably in January.
Big-name keynote speaker is probably a no-go for a
no-frills convention.
DIY on the food – kitchen facility would be nice.
