[Convention] convention info for the newsletter

We don't have a clear decision on whether there is going to be a  
newsletter before the convention or a postcard or what.  I haven't  
heard from Dan Melnechuck, the treasurer.  All I know is Grace is  
working on putting together a newsletter this week which she intends  
to have the party mail out as notification for the convention.  Grace  
asked me to help her gather content for this newsletter.  Adcom  
decided in July that we should mail out a newsletter before the  
convention.  I know that Colby is now talking about this alternative  
idea of mass mailing a postcard before the convention and then  
printing up a newsletter later that will be distributed non-postally.  
I assume we will be discussing these alternatives (and possibly even  
other alternatives) at the Adcom meeting tomorrow night, and  
hopefully coming to some decision.  In the meantime I am doing what I  
can to help Grace try to generate content so that we can go forward  
with the newsletter as quickly as possible if we decide to still do  
the newsletter before the convention. I think that, if we can, it  
would be good to mail out a newsletter before the convention as we  
decided ; but I do not know if it is feasible or not in terms of  
amount of work to be done on producing the newsletter compared to  
available work hours of volunteers. Personally an hour or two per day  
is the most I can possibly devote to this effort this week and next  
week.  In terms of the finances, we have previously determined that  
mailing out a postcard is approximately the same cost as mailing a  
newsletter, so it follows that if we can afford to mail out a  
postcard then we could afford to mail out a newsletter instead.
