I also believe we would do well to use knowthyneighbor.org as a resource.
There's businessmen and women to boycott. Let us help organize those
boycotts, and let the media know why. There's local municipal officials to
campaign against. Use their signatures against them. We can bring this to
the cities and towns - but I believe the best way to do so would involve a
campaign of shame against the public figures and "pillars of the community"
who signed the petition. Picketing, letter campaigns, press releases,
boycotts and even civil disobedience could prove effective.
Examples abound: Yvonne Cabral, proprietor of the Provincetown Trolley;
several members of the Hannoush family living in West Springfield, some of
whom run Hannoush Jewelers outlets; State Representative Donald Humason of
Westfield; Governor Mitt Romney; Ray Flynn; Kathleen Reynolds-Daignault of
Leominster (former State Rep. candidate, husband owns Il Cabrino
restaurant); Rosemary Reynolds of Fitchburg (former city
councilor,Kathleen's mother); an ADDITIONAL Yvonne Cabral, also from
Provincetown (I wonder which of these two Yvonne Cabrals ironically was
awarded the Community Service award by the National Lesbian and Gay Task
Force!); and a city councilor from my own home town.
Please note that not all signatories INTENDED to sign. Many were duped
through fraudulent practice. So, where one might have questions, it may be
best to first find out if various "pillars of the community" signing may
have been defrauded of their signatures.
The following businesses and corporations all were noted on OCPF forms as
significant contributors to the homophobic "Massachusetts Citizens for
Marriage":
