email fundraisers aren't terrible effective for us.  The easiest thing
to do is to send to the announcements list, but have it tied to a
particular need and goal.  Having a graph on the web page showing how
much we have raised towards our goal would help as well.

The tech comm is looking at replacing our not fully functional
supporter db with CiviCRM.  There is a fundraising component
(http://civicrm.org/civicontribute) that appears to perform some
tracking of contributions.  the key thing I believe is to have such a
system track pledges and tie receipts to pledges and track thank yous.
