But, if we search for the perfect candidate with the perfect strategy, we're
either never going to find him/her, or when we do, it will be too late. I
agree Cobb's strategy is flawed, but his message is better than any of the
others, so we go with the best we can offer for now, and we learn the lessons we
need to learn for next time.
One lesson is that you can only take the anti-Bush message so far.
Eventually, you need to offer a set of programs that will put America on the right
course again, and both Cobb and Kerry are spending too much time and effort
urging the defeat of Bush. Put another way, three weeks ago, Pat Buchanan said
"Bush has lost the election; Kerry has not yet won it." We got into this
anti-Bush strategy box because we are afraid of him, and what he can do with four
more years. But voters want to know what they are replacing him with, and Kerry
is responding only slowly.
Keep up the good work.
