Hi Merelice and Dave,

Thanks!

I will use this as a model and send out my own press release.

I hope that others will do the same.

Mike Heichman

P.S. Let's keep tabs on how much coverage we get. Who should we send the
coverage to?
I'm also going to ask the Chelsea Record if they are interested in writing
an article about the convention.

Greetings,
Pasted below is a press release that Dave England and I are submitting today
to the Brookline TAB and Brookline Bulletin. Feel free to adapt it to your
needs. In most cases, your release will come from one person. In that case,
you can use your name for both quotes at the end.

Brookline delegates to
Green Party Convention

Two Brookline residents are among the 36-member Massachusetts delegation
traveling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Green Party's presidential
nominating convention June 23-28. Massachusetts is fielding the fifth
largest state delegation to the convention. The delegation's size is
determined in part by the number of registered voters in the Green-Rainbow
Party (formerly Massachusetts Green Party), which is the state affiliate of
the United States Green Party.

David England and MK Merelice, both of White Place, will participate
respectively as Lorna Salzman and no-preference delegates. After "no
preference," Ms. Salzman led in the March presidential primary in
Massachusetts, closely followed by David Cobb and trailed by Kent Mesplay
and Paul Glover. Ralph Nader, who was the Green Party presidential candidate
in 2000, qualified for two delegates but has decided to try to run as an
independent candidate; he has also indicated that he will not accept a draft
if nominated by the Green Party.

Notes Delegate Dave England, "We plan to run a vigorous campaign for the
Green Party nominee here in Massachusetts. In addition, there are several
local Green-Rainbow Party races for State Representative and State Senate.
But the presidential race is the only statewide race this year, and we need
to obtain 3% of that vote to maintain official ballot status."

Merelice adds: "Our presidential campaign can be a referendum, giving
Massachusetts voters an opportunity to tell elected officials in the two
major parties who are waffling on gay rights: 'We oppose putting
discrimination into the constitution.' Even those intent on ousting
President Bush can afford to send this important message since it is
expected that Senator Kerry will handily carry the state. We are also the
party that's committed to bringing the troops home from Iraq."
