I think Gill's point is well taken -- some delegates aren't on e-mail and
can't participate. Others have already left town. Unfortunately, this has to
wait until Milwaukee. We meet Friday evening at the registration desk and
decide when to meet again on this issue. We do have to decide something, because
the procedure/rules I recently saw indicate we will have only about 30 minutes
between voting rounds to caucus. That's probably not enough time to leave the
room. Because we are the most diversified of the large delegations, we will
need to devote all our time to deciding how we are going to vote on the next
round, so we need our voting process straight when the balloting begins. I do
not forsee universal agreement on the final decision, so I am prepared to
accept a majority vote on Dan's options A and B. In the end, I expect we are
going to unite around opposing a no candidate option, so much of this may be moot.
As the one who launched this discussion, I say thank you for putting so much
thought and time into it. I think now we need to let the question settle
until we get to Milwaukee. See you there.
