[GNC] Coordinators for Each Massachusetts Candidate Delegation

I volunteer to coordinate the uncommitted delegates if no one else wants to
do it--but I would rather that Jen or Steve (or Grace or someone else) took
it over as I am going to have a busy time just before the convention as
elected USGP coordinating committee rep. Perhaps we could be in touch by e
mail in advance and I will kick that discussion off by saying that I intend
to stay uncommitted for as long as I can to see the lay of the land--and
also because I genuinely favor a safe state strategy and want to get
commitments from candidates to that effect. I can go into the reasons why I
favor that strategy but I think it has been hashed over so often that it
perhaps isnt necessary. Betts

Subject: [GNC] Coordinators for Each Massachusetts Candidate Delegation

  Hello everyone,

I want to let you know that the CDLC is in the process of submitting the
delegate application to the national. You may or may not be contacted by
members of the national Green Party in the next coming weeks- I'm not sure
how that will work. I am sure that barring any unforeseen circumstances,
you will get to appear at the Convention as a MA delegate or delegate.

  FYI,
  Green-Rainbow Party Delegation consists of:
  10 Uncommitted/No Preference delegates
2 Uncommitted/No Preference alternates (NOTE: Each of these two alternates
are serving as a delegate for another candidate after learning of their
alternate status after the Apr. 10 statecom and successfully petitioning to
be a delegate for another candidate due to our May 1 deadline extension.
For all intents and purposes, these two alternates will be serving as
delegates for other candidates since they cannot hold two different
positions at the same time.)
5 Salzman delegates - [if the proxy voting rule is passed, 4 of these
delegates may cast their vote twice to allow for the 9 delegates that
Salzman should have had]
  9 Cobb delegates
  3 Cobb alternates
  3 Glover delegates
  3 Mesplay delegates
1 Nader delegate - [if the proxy voting rule is passed, this delegate may
cast his vote twice to allow for the 2 delegates that Nader should have had]
  TOTAL: 31 delegates, 3 alternates

  Green-Rainbow Party Coordinators for:
  Lorna Salzman:
-Owen Broadhurst thersites at unforgettable.com 413-786-1508

  David Cobb:
-Richard Zitola rich at vote-zitola.org 978-516-9160

  Paul Glover:
  -Jamie O'Keefe jokeefe at jamesokeefe.org 617-628-4136

  Kent Mesplay:
  -Mike Heichman mikeh.massed at rcn.com 617-265-8143

  Ralph Nader:
-David Rolde davidrolde at comcast.net 781-642-7218

  No Preference/Uncommitted:
-No coordinator since there is no candidate to be held accountable to.
However, I may suggest that some of our uncommitted delegates who have been
active in organizing/discussing issues on this list come forward, e.g. Jen?
Steve? Betty? I should not fill this role as I am not a delegate nor will I
be going to the convention.

It is the responsibility of each coordinator to be the contact person
between her/his Presidential Candidate and/or Campaign Committee and the MA
GRP delegates and alternates awarded to the Presidential Candidate. I am
also encouraged by the informative emails that coordinators have sent to the
GNC list.
Although not specified, I think that the coordinators can play an
important role for discussion, negotiation, and compromise between our six
types of delegations between now and the Presidential Nominating portion of
the Convention. A lot of what I'm saying here echoes what Mike Heichman
mentioned in his earlier email.

I'd also like to echo what Owen, Wanda, and others have been saying about
the need for delegates to educate themselves about the various Green Party
Presidential candidates (and about Green Party Platform Proposals)- I like
the idea of holding a meeting.

I hope that this GNC list is more helpful than a nuisance and thank you
everyone for stepping forward to represent Massachusetts at the Convention
in June! If you have any questions or concerns about this list, please
contact Steve Milder smilder at fas.harvard.edu or myself spherson24 at yahoo.com
for help. Thanks!
