[GNC] What is the GRP goal for the convention and campaign?

Hello.

Understanding that this e-list was created to coordinate the logistics
about going to Milwaukee, I thought I would ask an ancillary question
to the Massachusetts delegation.

Obviously, different delegates are supporting different candidates,
which is how the process is supposed to work. I would like to think,
however, that we, as a delegation, will seek what is best not only for
GPUS, but also for the Massachusetts Green-Rainbow Party. Knowing what
our collective goal is will, I believe, help us as we work our way
through the convention and will allow us to speak with a common voice,
not necessarily as to who the Presidential candidate will be, but
rather as to what our long- and short-term goals are here in
Massachusetts.

So, I ask you, what do you hope to get out of the convention and the
subsequent campaign from the perspective as a member of the GRP?

Personally, in light of the fact I am Rich Zitola's campaign treasurer,
it is my hope that GPUS will nominate a candidate that will best allow
our party to grow and that will give our legislative candidates the
best chance of winning. I certainly would like to have a presidential
candidate who will stand up to Bush and Kerry where and when
appropriate, but I truly believe that the success of GPUS in the
long-run depends on the growth and maturity of the party at the local
and state level. That growth and maturity will come, again in my
opinion, from having voices in the Massachusetts legislature who can
speak to the Ten Key Values and who stand against political "business
as usual" in this state.

I look forward to hearing your comments, either here online or in
person.

Thanks.

Jim Henderson
