Jim et al.... with regard to your detailed response to my inquiry, you
didn't answer my questions.
I'm not trying to be obtuse. You detailed arguments in favor of the
positions in a general way, but I'm asking for specifics to associate
with teh MassGreenRainbow Party program. or Northampton Greens.
What specific changes in law would create the progressive tax program?
Yes increasing the marginal tax rate on the highest incomes could raise
a lot of money, and i favor it, but Massachusetts voters have voted in
referenda in the last two elections to reduce their marginal rates.
Can you support grassroots democracy and raise marginal tax rates in
Massachusetts?
I haven't seen the numbers that Jill used, but she may be taking into
account all the taxes and service fees paid by individuals which will
automatically be regressive taxation. If that's the case then
alleviating these fees in favor of progressiv income tax would be sound
fiscal policy. Can you sell it to voters or legislators?
Likewise regarding seniority, you argue in the general that seniority
should be protection against layoff, and not without reason. I ask if
there isn't any case in which seniority could rightly be disregarded,
for instance in the case you ignore where competence and performance are
greater in a shorter time employee.
I know that such cases exist in my workplace.
Finally, with regard to privatization, my question is for specific areas
in the Romney proposal where privatisation needs to be opposed. Where
can we specifically organise opposition to bad privatisation proposals?
