Vandana Shiva - Another World Is Possible - opening talk of the valley empire series

Beginning on September 3, 2003, with a talk by Vandana Shiva, a working group of valley activists will begin a year-long exploration of the United States empire.  Titled Making Another World Possible:  Resisting and Transforming US Empire, the series will feature book and visual displays, a video series sponsored by the IAC/ANSWER, a performance art series coordinated by gooselove and a number of monthly programs sponsored by organizations ranging from the Women's Congress for Peace to the Buddhist Peace Fellowship to Jobs with Justice to AFSC. 
   
One of the goals of the series is to provide ample space for all "citizens" of the empire to reflect on what we can and must do -- from the inside -- to curb naked US aggression and reign in our country's imperialist tendencies which benefit only the very richest and most powerful among us.

As part of this series, AFSC will be sponsoring Undoing Empire: 500 Years Is Enough  with Princeton Professor Zia Mian and a talk by author of Keeping Up with the Dow Joneses, Vijay Prashad.
