Meeting Minutes 9/8/03

Salvo House, and also at the home of Cat Sargent

Attendees:
Susan Lantz (facilitator), Cat Sargent (timekeeper),
Jon Levy, Richard Aviles, Jim Cayon and Jim Bosman
(minutes)

7:00 PM Introductions, go-around to catch up on each
other since we hadn’t met since June.
7:10 PM RELOCATE MEETING to Cat Sargent’s home due to
unforseen conflict with another group using the
meeting space at Salvo House. (Bosman will resolve for
future meetings.)

7:30 PM Continue introductions.

7:55 PM Set next meeting date. It was agreed that due
to holidays and other conflicts, the October meeting
will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2nd, 7-9 PM at Salvo
House.

8:00 PM Bylaws for this group were proposed by Bosman,
amended and accepted. Bosman will submit amended copy
to G-RP Secretary.

8:15 PM Reports - Cayon that the clean elections group
is moving forward by targeting districts where there
is no CE visibility or where the rep. has opposed
clean elections. Resolution of funding question for CE
is paramount. Cayon also reports that the IRV
legislations has moved forward more quickly than was
anticipated. Levy reported that he would like to see
the G-RP bylaws amended to eliminate the clause that
states that state committee members may not publicly
criticize G-RP nominees. All present agreed this
deserves further discussion.

8:35 PM Extended discussion of 2004 presidential race.
Opinions of those present varied from those who want
to see a green presidential candidate on the ballot,
to those who would prefer to not run one in MA and
ensure that Bush is defeated, and loose ballot status
and work hard to get it back later, to those who don’t
want to put any energy into a green presidential
candidate. Lantz passed out Kucinich literature, and
there was a discussion of the relative merits of
Kucinich and Mosley-Braun.

9:15 PM Meeting adjorned.
