[Northampton-GP] Anti-Poverty March

I contacted Meadowbrook Coalition and Emma Morgan was interested in learning
more, but she doubts she will be able to attend a meeting on any of the
suggested dates. She would like to know which date we pick, in case she can
send someone in her place.

They are undergoing some major changes and will be having a meeting in the
near future. Emma would like a representative from the group to talk about
the march and then the tenants will vote on their participation. I told her
I would get back to her regarding the date of the meeting and if someone
would be willing to attend their meeting. I also suggested that I could
send her notes from our meeting if she is unable to attend (which I am
willing to prepare and distribute to anyone who may like a copy).

Best Regards,
Amy

Hi, The Northampton Survival Center should be sending someone to our
meeting and it would be best for them if it was on the Wensday wed Wednd
(Damn this Umass education!!) the 21st. Also they could use a big stack of
flyers, so whomever of us contacts Lisa to come out once we decide on the
final date of the meeting should make sure she brings lots of materials with
her. (She probably will anyway)

    Hi everyone,
I spoke with Jo Comerford about the march. She wants AFSC to be part of
this and will send a Board member to our meeting as she is not available
herself. Jo suggests we include the following and I've assigned callers to
them. Hopefully we will contact our groups this week and get a sense of when
they can meet on those three evenings (Jan 20,21, 22). Great idea on
Habitat for Humanity, Jackie and welcome aboard to them. Which evenings are
good for them to meet?
    Other Groups for consideration:
    Meadowbrook Coalition----Tom
    Emma Morgan 585-5808

    Casa Latina-- Susan

UAW-- Jim (perhaps ask if we can meet there)
    2232 KIng St
    James Shaw, President

    Yaju-- Susan
    575-5141

    Northampton Survival Center-- Jon

    Grove St Shelter-- Jackie

Bill of Rights Defense Com-- Susan
    241 King St ste 216
    582-0110

    Save Our Schools--Tom
    Jim Levey--586-4012 (home number)
Jim apparently knows all about the schools and would know appropriate
group(s) to contact.

    Center for New Americans---Jon
    587-0084
Not sure how political they are.
    Maybe not a fit.

    VA.. Jackie
    Florence, MA 584-8006
    runs a homeless shelter...?

Besides sending contact info to Lisa for our Religious groups, we should
contact them for our group as we'll need help for food and shelter for
marchers. Do any of you have affiliation with First Churches, Edwards
Church, and I will do the Unitarian Society.
This is a great opportunity for these groups and us to bring awareness.
LEt's get them reved up....!
    Report back quickly....

This was in regard to finding groups who could come out on March 28 to
support the statewide anti-poverty march.
We would love your help on this project if you're interested. We're trying
to arrange an initial planning mtg with a number of local groups whose work
would be supported by the march and then also planning a kick-off party on
the night of the 27th to help benefit the march and the local groups that
choose to get involved.

Hi
I am not sure what you plan for in helping with
Habitat for Humanity but I would be interested in
taking part.
