[Platform] Question for GRP Peeps: Is the Draft Merged Platform a Good Starting Place?

Colby,
Sorry that you have received only one response -- mine. Perhaps it is
a little late for some people -- who have not had time to compare that
document with the report submitted by the Task Force -- to begin the
detailed comparison that would enable them to make a reasoned judgement
about what would be the best point of departure for Saturday's
discussion. Perhaps, you could give your opinion since you believe
that there is time, between now and then, to express a reasoned
preference if there is some ground for such choice.

In any case, the decision about which to go with should be made by the
ExpCom, which asked for the task force in the first place, before we
meet so that we are not placed in a position of using up time for
discussion of the content (of either) in a discussion about which one
we should be discussing.

I am not normally an advocate of efficiency, and am prepared to go all
night so that we can have something ready to go to press for signature
gathering efforts as fast as possible -- if, and only if the convention
decides on a slate that needs a platform -- but I have a sense that
other people might prefer that the point of departure be that which was
previously implied by the very creation of the task force.

Correct me if I am mistaken -- please.
Peace,
Elie (in Cambridge)
