Hi Merelice,
Thanks for your feedback, both positive and constructive. When I joined the
Platform Comm., I thought that Jill and
John were the "leaders" (and maybe the co-chairs) of the Platform Comm. I
have been meeting with the ABWG Project
and John Andrews (no title) has been the major force within the
subcommittee. I talked with him briefly a couple of
times and discovered that there were no co-chairs.
I have been very busy and I know that Jill has also been very busy with
major projects and deadlines. I had sent Jill
and John numerous e-mail messages, but had not received a response. I have
had a similar experiences with the co-
chairs of the CDLC (Dave and Jill).
Despite this explanation, I agree with you that I should have attempted to
contacted Jill by phone. What I decided to
do was to stop complaining and take action by calling a meeting.
Thanks,
Mike Heichman

Hi Mike,
Your proposed agenda for a Platform Committee meeting seems both
timely and complete.
I would suggest that you skipped an important step between your
requests/demands for a Platform meeting and your deciding to go ahead
on your own. That step would have been to pick up the phone and talk
directly with one of the co-chairs and ask whether it would be helpful
for you to organize and schedule a meeting. Given how busy they both
are, they might have welcomed the assistance -- especially since
preparation is needed for the StateCom meeting.
Then your efforts (and especially your tone!) would have come across
as cooperative rather than combative -- something which is not
welcoming to new people and which the hard-working volunteers in the
GRP don't need. Perhaps you would consider doing so now.
Merelice
