Although one Platform Committee member has asked why some of this
discussion is on the Platform list, I am forwarding Mel's response for
the record. (Because he is not on the list, his email is being held
for moderator approval.) Also, Mel's response is relevant to the
Platform Committee.

right on
in an earlier statement i stated
the party does not have the capacity to mount a serious campaign
past efforts nationally and the governors campaign have not led to a
stronger party with relevance and impact
am not sure we have any bargaining leverage to promote the issues we stand for
later wrote
i do not believe we should run a candidate until we have a platform
formed from the bottom with links across the country
we have a good start with the predatory lending
in sharing with the mckinney campaign my reason for not endorsing was
based on the fact we had no real tie that binds us
and that they should think as to why a campaign on the personality
lets build a viable base that at the outset wins some state elections
and a seat or two in congress

or do something that puts a half a million people in the streets

We are like people in Bedlam, saying the same things over and over, no

Would someone please explain how the coming presidential campaign will
either develop our organization or relieve the distress of a single
sentient being in the real world?
Are we not about to waste another precious year of our lives, not to
speak of our fortunes and our sacred honor, just so that we and a
bunch of free riders can cast a protest vote in November to hush our
bad consciences?
God knows we have no right to a clear conscience.
