I sent this to Michael Feinstein of the Credentials committee for
national. I think this should be added to the presidential plan for
next time to recognize the chain of logic from state laws and our
bylaws that prescribes why we must place the national party's
candidates for pres and vp on the mass ballot.

Peace,
Dan

Hi Michael,

I apologize for my late response and for not clarifying why i had
sent the GRP PResidential Plan for 2008. In it, section 4, Selection
of Presidential Electors, describes commonwealth law about selecting
presidential electors. Since:

1. GRP bylaws state that we must follow commonwealth law and that we
are a party to try to elect members of our party to office,

2. commonwealth law as stated in section 4 of the Presidential Plan
for 2008 says the state committee shall meet to select the electors,
with specified time constraints,

3. the elector form that we must supply to the commonwealth has on it
spaces for the names of our party's presidential and vice
presidential candidates and electors selected by the state committee,
is the way the names of the Green candidates get on the ballot in
Massachusetts,

4. that the GRP is a recognized member of GPUS both by GPUS and by
the FEC, we recognize the GPUS as the national Green party, we are
affiliated with the GPUS, and we are the state Green party of
Massachusetts and recognized as such by the Secretary of the
Commonwealth since they sent us the electors form,

it then logically follows that 2008 GRP Presidential Plan is
describing our policy to place the candidates that our national Green
party chooses on the ballot here in Massachusetts. Yes, an argument
could be made that all we need is an additional statement in this
plan to make it clear that the plan is to place the presidential and
vice presidential candidates on the ballot, and a strong one at that.
I will submit that for addition in 2012's plan.

I hope this has illuminated why i sent the plan in response to the
question. I guess i should have sent the bylaws and a copy of the
elector form we must send to the commonwealth (and of course this
explanation). If you want those docs, please let me know.
