Greetings,

Over the last few years, Jill has made some speaking appearances in
Brookline and yesterday's vote tallies show it. She received 23.8% of
Brookline's votes. Her 4,339 vote count was higher than Kerry Healey's
3,909 votes.

Individual precincts ran from a low of 20.3 % to a high of 33.1% in
precinct 6 which has the most Jill supporters (both GRP and non-GRP).
I've done a precinct-by-precinct breakdown if anyone outside Brookline
cares.

Jamie got 16.3 % of the Brookline vote and Grace/Martina got 2.4%.

Given the extraordinary grass-roots organizing on behalf of Deval in
Brookline, the 52.5% overall turnout was considered surprisingly low.
Given his campaign and the CPA question, the Clerk's office had
estimated a turnout of 60-65%.

Other results of interest: Rand Wilson (Working Families Party)
received 13.4% of the vote for Auditor. Apparently most Brookline
voters did not get the connection between his campaign and Question 2
on fusion. While Question 2 lost, it did receive 43.4% of the vote,
much higher than Rand's tally.

An "end war" referendum that was on the ballot in 12 out of our 16
precincts received 69.2% of the vote.

The horrid, horrid news is that the Community Preservation Act failed,
getting 42.9% of the vote. I've been part of a number of so-called
"losing" campaigns over the years and still felt like a winner, but
the CPA opponents used such misrepresentations and fear tactics in
this campaign, that it's left a really bitter aftertaste.

Sorry to end on a downer!
Merelice
