Pullano brings Green Party Annual National Meeting to Reading

GPUS Annual National Meeting at Historic Abraham Lincoln Wyndham

Reading, PA - At a press conference held in the lobby? of the Abraham
Lincoln Wyndham Hotel and Conference Center, the Green Party of
Pennsylvania, the Berks County Green Party, and the Pullano for Mayor
campaign announced that the 2007 Annual National Meeting of the Green
Party would be held in that location July 12-15, 2007. The meeting will
bring an estimated 300 + people from all over the country and world to
Reading, from as far away as Nepal to as close as your next-door
neighbor. Its primary focus is the three day GPUS business meetings of
all the Green National delegates, as well as music and informative
entertainment that will focus on the four pillars of the Green Party:
social justice, nonviolence, grassroots democracy, and ecology. Green
candidates seeking various offices, including President in 2008, will
be highlighted as well.

"This is an exciting moment for the City of Reading and the Berks
County Greens who have worked so hard to make this happen," said
Jennaro Pullano, referring to the lengthy proposal and website that
volunteers created to make Reading the preferred location. Pullano, who
announced his candidacy for mayor after being passed over for a vacant
City Council seat last year, and until last week, the only candidate
challenging Democratic incumbent Mayor Tom McMahon.'The Green
revolution keeps on going, and Reading is ripe for change NOW!," he
exclaimed.

Dave Baker, Pullano's campaign manager and the architect of the Reading
proposal, was even more enthusiastic. "We are going to show Reading
what the Green Party is all about," said Baker. "And we're going to
show Greens from all over the country and th world that Reading is
where it's at." In addition to workshops and business meetings, Baker
and his team have booked local bands to play at parties and fundraisers
designed to attract new people to the party. Said Baker, "we're going
to have a great time!" All relevant information about the meeting,
including events that will be open to the general public, can be found
at www.gpanc.org.

Jay Sweeney , representing the Green Party of Pennsylvania, affirmed
2007 as a year of rebuilding for the Greens and other third parties.
"Last year was extremely challenging for us," said Jay, referring to
the close to a million dollars spent on a Democratic challenge that
resulted in all three statewide Green candidates being removed from the
ballot. "However, Jennaro's campaign and the news today are bright
spots of hope that will help us regroup and be ready for '08 - we are
looking forward to the new opportunities."

The Green Party of Pennsylvania is an independent political party that
challenges the two corporate parties, and stands for the values of
grassroots democracy, social justice, ecology, and nonviolence. The
Green Party of Pennsylvania firmly opposes the Occupation in Iraq.
More information about the party can be found at its website,
