[statecom-discuss] Proposal 3: Supercommittees

I think it is confusing to have two proposals folded into one. If there are two proposals, they should be separate.

The "Supercommittees" (SCs) are intended to consolidate the existing WORKING committees. So AdCom should not be listed as a SC.

The SCs should be organized on functional principles: Support, Line, and Office.

So there are 3 SCs, not 4.

(1) "Membership Support" is misleading for a Support supercom. The real function here is to support the locals, not members individually. This corresonds with a reorganization of the state into geographical areas such that everyone in the state is able to belong to a geographical local. The focus of the party's work then shifts away from the center to the local. Individuals belong to the state GRP THROUGH membership in their local.

(2) "Outreach" is the state's Line SC. A line committee is one that interacts directly with the public—the GRP's central work which should also include platform.

(3) Office is self-explantory and there seems to be no difference on this.

I don't have time this morning to look as what Mike describes as Ron's proposal. But I have a feeling that the options are not so different and that they may be combined after a little work and thought.
