[statecom-discuss] CindySheehans Memorial Day Letter

Her two "resignations" in the span of a few days are very interesting...
First from the Democratic Party, then from being the "face of the American
anti-war movement".
I think the thing about Cindy Sheehan that is so remarkable is that everyone
can see
a bit of themselves in her. She's just one person -- a normal person even!

I had written this open letter to her back in February, asking her to run
for prez on the
Green Party ticket: http://www.swans.com/library/art13/elib026.html

I think a lot of the problem is the responsiblity that is placed on her
shoulders. And I think it's essential that we get out of this mold of
looking for someone to come along to save us. Sheehan's
action was an incredibly strategic one -- and premeditated, just like Rosa
Parks'. No one could have known how significant it would end up being...

More recently I wrote a piece called The Greening of the Peace Movement:

Note that it's intended mostly for people who are disillusioned with the
system but haven't really committed to building an alternative.

As for the GRP, I hope that we can get some people who are focused on
national and international issues to join the national committee... maybe
use the opportunity of expanding to 8 delegates as a recruiting tool.
