Just for everyone's information: MIRA, NALAC and Centro Presente will
have a vigil tomorrow at 11:00 AM in front of the JFK Federal
Building, home of the Field Office of ICE.
They will also hold a press conference at 3PM.

I'm all for a statement from the party honoring the worker and
everyone's human rights. There are lots of ways to approach the issue
from there. If we go after big corporations, we should also go after
ICE and the federal government's policies on immigration.
It's the two corporate parties that always craft an immigration policy
that allows migrant workers to enter the country (however dangerously)
but denies them citizenship rights, threatens to deport them if they
try to stand up for their rights, imposes minimal fines for
corporations that hire undocumented workers, and uses rhetoric to
distract US-born workers from the failures of the economic system to
instead make them angry at and afraid of immigrants.

All of this of course serves to provide capital with cheap,
exploitable labor and keeps US-born and migrant workers from
organizing together to improve wages and working conditions for
everyone. The corporations are guilty, but it's the Republicrats that
craft the policies that orchestrate this whole thing.
