Before we get into endless discussions about putting Nader (or not) on
the Mass. ballot, let's make sure we understand the law.
In 2000 (when Nader ran), we were not an official party. In 2004 (and
for 2008), we were/are. It makes a difference.
I believe the state requirement(s) for putting a candidate on the
official Party primary ballot include(s):
- The candidate needs to be officially acknowledged as a candidate by
the national Greens.
- The State Committee decides who will go on the ballot; collecting
sigs is not needed.
There is a possibiliity that only the second point is required for the
primary ballot and that the first point is required for the November
final ballot. I don't remember for sure.
Whatever the law, let's make sure everyone understands it.
Thanks,
Merelice
