[statecom-discuss] we have to think about this soon

Dear NC Delegate:

We need the number of Delegates that will be attending the Presidential
Nominating Convention, by State, ASAP.

I was contacted today by a representative of the California Secretary of
States office in regards to the following matter. The Green Party of
California has failed to make the deadline for notifying the Secretary of
States office of the number of delegates from California that will be
attending the Presidential Nominating
Convention. Therefore it then becomes the responsibility of the national
committee. The Secretary of State in California will be certifying this
number on Oct. 18. She was unclear as to the ramifications if the number
is not submitted by that time.

Since the National Committee has not yet determined the overall size of
the Convention, let alone how it will be apportioned this is problematic.

Given that this deadline is too soon to be able to go through the usual
process I suggest the following:

-That we figure an overall size of 800 delegates for the Nominating
Convention.

-That we use the current apportionment formula to determine the number.

-And that this number becomes a given in the final calculations. I.E. the
delegates for other states are proportionate to this given number for
California relative to the Nominating Convention formula that will
be approved by the NC.

This maybe the best solution given that the Delegate Nomination
Apportionment Formula will not be approved in time to get this
information to California.
