Greetings,
Just a reminder that one of the agenda items for Saturday will be
various party elections.
The one that is highest priority (and needs to take place at the first
StateCom meeting held after AdCom elections at the State Convention)
is for AdCom diversity reps. We sent a detailed announcement about
this election on October 20 and we hope you have given it your thought
and attention.
In addition, there are still open seats for Massachusetts
representatives on the national committee of the U.S. Green Party. At
the August convention elections, the GRP filled 5 of the 8 slots
assigned to Mass. plus one alternate (who can continue to vote as long
as we haven't filled all 8 slots or when a delegate chooses not to
vote).
The delegates were:
Elie Yarden (Cambridge), Annie Butler (Cambridge), Patricia O'Brien
(Cambridge), John Walsh (Cambridge), and Martina Robinson
(Belchertown). The alternate is Jamie McLaughlin. In addition, we have
been informed that David Ebony Barkley (Boston and Worcester) is still
being treated as a delegate and since he has agreed to be a candidate
at this Saturday's StateCom meeting, we chose not to complicate
matters by withdrawing him only to possibly add him again.
The current gender balance is good, but it's clear that the Cambridge
contingent is amply represented and that further seats might best be
filled by Central and Western Mass. folks.
There will be candidates for open county seats on StateCom and Jamie
McLaughlin has expressed interest in being an alternate as a diversity
rep on StateCom.
And finally, the Party would welcome learning of people who would take
on the duties of Fundraising Director.
Thank you for all you are doing and for preparing for Saturday's meeting.
Nat and Merelice, GRP co-chairs
