Sorry I didn't post this, but I'll have copies of it at today's meeting.

Communications Committee Report to 1/27/2008 State Committee Meeting*

The Communications Committee has not been very active as a working committee
of the GRP, and only has 3 active members. Most of the work performed has
been to put out press releases that have only been going out through email,
and are not being picked up by the media.

Since the Aug. 2007 State Convention, we have issued 5 or 6 press releases
without doing faxes or follow-up phone calls. The releases have been:

   - Grace Ross Places 6th in Worcester At-Large City Council
   Preliminary
   - Chuck Turner, Incumbent Boston City Councillor, Wins Preliminary
   Election
   - Green-Rainbow Party members across the Commonwealth make solid bids
   for local office.
   - Green Party Adds Critical Options To Massachusetts Presidential
   Primary
   - Green-Rainbow Party files complaint for being sidelined in
   Secretary Galvin PSAs

The Communications Director finally received the CD with more media lists,
including fax lists and phone numbers, and will hopefully be able to get up
to speed soon in doing more thorough press work.

The two priorities that have been identified – GRP literature and the GRP
website – have only received minor attention.

We have developed a temporary third-page Green-Rainbow Party flyer, and we
completed a Green-Rainbow Party statement in time for the October 27th New
England mobilization to end the occupation of Iraq.

Some work has gone into working on a new community website for the
Green-Rainbow Party, and an upcoming joint meeting of the Membership,
Communications, & Tech Committees (Feb 16) will really begin the process.

The Winter/Spring 2008 Newsletter was advanced in time by a month because of
the primaries being pushed up to Feb. 5, and this created some difficulties
in coordinating the newsletter over the holidays. The process for the
newsletter was quite messy, but enough people chipped in to pull off a
pretty good newsletter. We look forward to smoother sailing down the road.

The main priority for the Communications Director is to now seek more active
participants on the Communications Committee, and to identify members'
interests.
