Since we are quoting the by-laws and interpreting as we see fit:
11.2 Immediate Recall. Clerks, officers, delegates and other
representatives of the Green-Rainbow Party shall be recallable.
Candidates who violate Green-Rainbow Party policy or platform, shall
lose our endorsement and support.
11.3 Imperative Mandate. Representatives and delegates of the
Green-Rainbow Party may express personal opinions, but must act and
vote within the guidelines agreed on by the Green-Rainbow Party.
(bold mine)
Take this as you will. I'm sure all of you know how each of you will
interpret this. It's predictable.
Does anyone in this group know what a brain loop is? Look it up.
We really should move on from this "conversation" or say that the party
is no longer viable and start over. Really, the years I've been around
the GRP nothing has gotten done - no real growth, no impact on the
culture except attracting derision and acrimony. A huge waste of time.
Well, maybe it's given some people something to do in their lives. That
counts for something I guess. The by-laws need revision and fleshing
out. The ways of making decisions should be totally revamped. The web
site is horrible. No fundraising. No real communication between the
members or anyone else for that matter. The 10 keys values should be
mulled over and NOT be used as the gospel and not be open to quoting
and used for one's own agenda. That's easy - anyone can do that. Here
I'll do it: "You can't be against what I'm saying. That means you're
against diversity." You've taken a look around the world to see what is
worth fighting over and spending time on, the best you(we) can do is
GRP presidential delegates? Any outsider would say that at best the GRP
is dysfunctional. Brain loop...If the best thing to come out of the
meetings, state com, ad com and these emails, is being able to say that
the bagels are tasty, then the time has come to do something different.
Life is too precious to be involved in this, well, whatever it is....
So far, in the 7 years I've been in the GRP and around it, it's been
mostly a college type debating club(and not even the same quality!)
with very few rays of sunshine peeking through. It's been mostly
playing at politics and mostly people getting in the way of any
meaningful work and dialogue. It's been mostly monologues, power plays,
irrelevancies and borderline psychosis. Why do I stay around? I guess I
stay around for those rays of sunshine which shine through every once
in awhile. But, I tell you, that Independent status is looking better
and better....

Dear Adcom,
I am not engaged in a complaint against the party. Nor am i signer of
the minority report. That said, the minority report is not a
complaint against the party, it is a minority opinion as allowed by
the bylaws. By attempting to label the minority report as a
complaint, implying it is a legal complaint, is not understanding the
nature of our bylaws in honoring what a minority report is. From the
bylaws:
11 Political Practices
11.4 Minority Opinions. Significant minority opinions within the
Green-Rainbow Party will be recorded and communicated to other
national and regional Green organizations as appropriate.
Declaring that i, or signers of the minority report, may not
participate in decision making in dealing with any issue is not
within your powers as cochairs as per our bylaws.
See you at the meeting later today. Time for bed.

Dear Statecom Reps and Adcom Members,
Please review the legal opinion (PDF) just obtained from an
election lawyer
about commonwealth law, our delegate selection plan, and
communications with
Michelle Tassinari regarding same. I am not going to extract any
from the
opinion since the entirety is important to read.
Dear AdCom:
Due to the submission of this letter from a lawyer working for two
private clients, offering legal advice and threatening the possibility
of legal action otherwise, we will unfortunately need to devote time
either at Monday's meeting or soon thereafter to consideration of
hiring a lawyer who would be working for the Green-Rainbow Party to
review the letter. It would, of course, be foolish and imprudent to
rely on legal advice from a lawyer working for a client or clients
currently engaged in a complaint against the party (i.e., the minority
report).
Because the two clients ---Grace Ross and Dan Melnechuck --- are also
members of AdCom, it will be necessary for them and any signers of the
complaint known as the minority report to step aside and not
participate in these decisions regarding the necessity and value of
seeking, selecting, and paying for legal counsel explicitly
representing the party rather than these individuals.
It will also be necessary for AdCom not to entertain any changes to
the current delegate allocations as recommended by CDLC and already
communicated to the candidates until such advice from a lawyer
actually hired by the Party is received.
Sustainably yours,
Nat Fortune
