Hi folks,
I was at the meeting. Yes, it was not a particularly productive meeting. There
were a number of problems, mainly related to the fact that they are running a
40-person meeting the way they used to run a 15-person meeting. We spent (some
would say "wasted") too much time dealing w/ procedural matters and didn't get
to the substance of the meeting.
No need to get too alarmed about this. It's just growing pains. The state
committee has doubled in the past few months, the party has been thrown some
legal requirements by the state, related to our official ballot status that the
state committee is not fully used to dealing with, and there were way too many
proposals on the table for us to deal with in a one-day meeting of 40 people.
The state committee will work it out in the next few months. In the grand scheme
of things this is not a big problem.
Tony just wants to make sure that the state committee deals with these issues
before the next meeting which won't be until January.
