All ages encouraged to attend. Seeking community members, cyclists, stilt
walkers, musicians, mimes, mothers, mirth, rollerskaters, radio lovers,
flamboyant attire, unbridled enthusiasm, sparkles. Join the Parade!
To attend the Grassroots Radio Conference taking place August 4th to
August 7th at the Florence Community Center go to www.prometheusradio.org.
There's still time to sign up. Sliding scale attendance!
Prometheus Radio Project, co-sponsor of the Grassroots Radio Conference and
organizer of VFR's Barnraising, has been calling far and wide to drum up
parade
interest and entertainers. Let us know what you think!
* The Florence Community Band has agreed to play from the back of a
flatbed pickup. Yeah!
* We have a stilt walker who has five pairs of stilts. Anyone game?
* We would love to make radio-and-VFR inspired puppets for this event.
This could happen during and before the conference, possibly as a part of
the childcare activities. We are trying to drum up puppets for this, along
with clowns, mimes, jugglers, unicyclists, roller skating butterflies, tall
bikes and bike banners.
* Other prospects: Screaming Pleasure & Hackworth dance people
(Easthampton), Hoopoe the Clown, Flywheel, Pedal People, Raging Grannies,
Double Edge Theatre, Root 9 Collective. We are trying to gather these and
other contact numbers. If anyone has ideas, please contact Kate at
Prometheus <kate at prometheusradio.org>.
* We will also need marshalls/shepherds for this parade--anyone
interested?
* We also want to make banners, signs, and puppets (antennas, a big
switch, radio, transmitter, sound waves, etc.). Of course we'll need help,
and materials for this (please see crafts list).
We need and welcome any and all help, suggestions, advice, and content.
Please contact Kate and let her know how you can help
<kate at prometheusradio.org>.
Drop any and all cardboard boxes, newspaper, flour (for papier mache),
sequins, glitter, fabric, etc. at the VFR studio in Florence (bottom floor
of the Florence Community Center @ 140 Pine St.)
