Clean Energy and sustainable technology special interest group kicks off first meeting may 11, 2005
Springfield, MA - May 3, 2005 - The Regional Technology Corporation (RTC) is hosting a Clean Energy and Sustainable Technology Special Interest Group meeting on May 11, 2005 from 4-6 p.m. at the Western Mass Electric Company (WMECO) Training Center located at 55 Russell Street, Hadley. WMECO is sponsoring this event.
The Technology Enterprise Council, one of RTC's three networks, is spearheading this group to facilitate and provide a forum for furthering development of the technologies, products, and services in the clean, renewable, and sustainable technology domain. "The Clean Energy Initiatives offer the most promising technology developments in our region" said Dr. Mahmud Awan, President and CEO of Regional Technology Corporation.
Paul Wormser will be serving as keynote speaker. Mr. Wormser is currently the Entrepreneur in Residence in Commercial Ventures and Intellectual Property at UMASS Lowell. Prior to this, he was the president and co-founder of Konarka Technologies, Inc. in Lowell, Ma. His bio can be seen at http://www.uml.edu/cvip/CVIP%20Team.htm. Mr. Wormser will talk about business planning in the clean energy / sustainable technology sector. Karl Jessen from the Renewable Energy Trust will also be speaking at the event. Karl is Program Director for Industry Support, and will analyze the funding opportunities and technology needs in this sector. In addition, Kathi Disch from WMECO will describe their Clean Energy Choice program. Kathi is Manager for Market Planning & Development at WMECO. There will be an open discussion after the presentations to talk about the interests among attendees and the potential direction for the Clean Energy Special Interest Group.
