Green-Rainbow Party people might have an interest in joining this GPUS
committee. Those not on StateCom should contact their state committee rep.
if interested, in order to further their nomination. It certainly can't
hurt.

Second Monthly Report of the EcoAction Committee

Dear NC Delegates and interested others,

Please accept this, the second monthly report of the GPUS EcoAction
Committee.

Membership: The Committee now has 24 vetted members representing 13 State
Parties (up from 14 members, 11 states as of last month's report). On our
conference call last night we approved by consensus the addition of advisor
Bill
Grennon from New Hampshire.

Officers: Elections of co-chairs and secretary will begin with nominations
starting April 1st, as determined on our last call.

The committee also discussed on the call the need for a separate list serv
for the committee devoted to formal discussion of action proposals for the
committee. We would like to have an official gp.org list for this purpose
(which was approved by the NC during the vote on the proposal to establish
the
committee.) If anyone has information on how our committee can obtain such
a
list please contact me.

Update on Project #1: Grassroots Activism Database

Web based database system to check out what issues are being addressed
around the country and see who is working on like issues. Intended audience
for
database would be grassroots activists who are addressing similar issues
and
interested in networking with people/organizations across the country in "
meet-up" style. Would be cross-referenced.

Update on Project #2: Library of Model Environmental Ordinances and
Projects
for Elected Greens to Use

Take examples where elected Greens are getting innovative policies
passed so
that other Greens can look to these, as examples of what Greens have been
able to accomplish. And as ideas for initiatives within their
own communities.
We would like to produce a mailing to send to all elected Greens in the US
with a simple survey that would ask what they are doing in their communities
regarding ecological legislation and initiatives. This would be
followed up
with phone calls.

**note from Kristen -- It is my understanding that Brent McMillan is
compiling a database of all elected Greens, though there is currently no
policy for
sharing this data with GPUS committees, I will be working on establishing a
data sharing policy for this project.

We would then establish a website to catalog and share this information.
Some guidelines shall be established to determine what initiatives would be
included in the catalog and on the web site to ensure adherence to the
Green
Party Platform.

Tucson:

The committee discussed a possible forum/workshop/presentation for the
Annual National Meeting in Tucson. Members of the committee will
be formulating proposals for plenary time with an extended opportunity
for education, the intent being for the NC to take action.

The next conference call will be the third Tuesday of March, look for our
third monthly report to follow that call.
