The Environmental Institute is currently hosting a lecture series this
Spring
entitled: Disasters, Environment, and Public Policy. The lecture series
will
consist of four lectures held throughout the spring semester. These
lectures
are free and open to the public. They will be held at 4PM in the Bernie
Dallas
Room, with a reception to follow each lecture.
The lecture series schedule is:
Monday, February 27

Chair, Disasters Roundtable of the National Academies
Monday, April 10
Human Dimensions of Disasters: The Role of Social Science Research
Kathleen J. Tierney, Director, Natural Hazards Center and Professor of
Sociology, University of Colorado Boulder
Tuesday, May 2
Learning from Disasters: The Synergy of Geography and Public Policy
Rutherford H. Platt, Professor of Geography, Department of Geosciences and
Director, Ecological Cities Project, University of Massachusetts Amherst
