Subject: [WMAPage] Supplies Needed for Cuba Caravan!
To: wmapage at yahoogroups.com, ariseaction at yahoogroups.com
Supplies are needed for the annual Pastors for Peace
Caravan which brings much needed donations to Cuba in
open defiance of the U.S. economic embargo!
Pastors for Peace is about to begin their 17th annual
Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba and will be coming to
Western Mass on June 20th. This year they will be
travelling to more than 120 U.S. and Canadian cities,
stopping to talk about U.S. policy towards Cuba and
the effects of the U.S. blockade on Cuban people.
Along the way they will be picking up donations of
medical supplies, school supplies, bicycles,
alternative energy supplies, and many other things
that are not available in Cuba as a result of the
embargo.
We will be welcoming the caravan in Northampton on
June 20th with an exciting event at First Churches
from 6:30-9pm with a speaker from the caravan, food,
fabulous performances, and after-event dancing! (more
details to come)
In the meantime, we are collecting supplies (see the
list below) to send with them. (we are also trying to
raise the $450 necessary to ship the items by
freighter from Mexico to Cuba)
If you have things to donate please call Tory at
413-885-5123 or Ray at 267-334-5703. Items can be
dropped off at the Food Bank Farm in Hadley, or
arrangements can be made to drop them in Northampton.
Check out the Pastors for Peace website at
www.ifconews.org for more info about the caravan, and
stay tuned for more info about the event!
