Documentary Film Screening: Palestine is Still the Issue
Friday March 31st
7 pm
Hasbrouk 134, UMass Amherst

Followed by a discussion led by Alisa Klein
Israel-Palestine Peace and Justice Activist and
Veteran of the Israeli Army

Sponsored by the Palestine Action Coalition. The

About the Film:
"In a series of extraordinary interviews with both
Palestinians and Israelis, John Pilger [renowned
British journalist] weaves together the issue of
Palestine. He speaks to the families of suicide
bombers and their victims; he sees the humiliation of
Palestinians imposed on them at myriad checkpoints and
with a permit system not dissimilar to apartheid South
Africa's infamous pass laws. He goes into the refugee
camps and meets children who, he says, "no longer
dream like other children, or if they do, it is about
death." (Bullfrog Films)

About Alisa Klein:
Alisa Klein, a resident of Western MA, is a dual
citizen of Israel and the United States, a veteran of
the Israeli army, and an anti-Zionist Palestine
solidarity activist. Decades of personal exploration,
academic study, and experience living, working and
studying in the Arab world brought about a shift for
Alisa from a deep commitment to Zionism to a radical
critique of Israel's policies and actions. Alisa
served for two years as the editor of The Other Front,
an online journal of alternative analysis of the war
on Palestine, has worked with the International
Women's Peace Service on the West Bank, and
co-produces and co-DJs two shows about Israel and
Palestine on Northampton's WXOJ-LP - Valley Free
Radio. Alisa founded and co-organized the Western
Massachusetts Palestinian Film Festival and also
served as a facilitator for Kopkind, an educational
summer retreat for journalists to learn more about
Palestine and Israel.
