Dear Bikers and Friends:
Shank's Pony has reformed and is playing at Flywheel's Last Show at 2
Holyoke Street in Easthampton on Saturday, March 17 between 3:00-4:00 PM.
This is the first of many Shank's Pony shows that will raise awareness about
peak oil, global warming, and life in a post-carbon future, especially
BICYCLES.
The Sound: 60s Psyche-Beat in a post-punk vein
Suel Bartone: guitar, bass, cello, vocals
Chris Hartman: guitar, bass
Sara Kellaway: drums

NOTICE:
We are slotted for 3:25 PM, but with 21 bands playing that day, we have to
be flexible. So come by 3 PM, and stay till 4, and we'll be on sometime
during that hour. We have only 30 minutes to play--so don't miss it!!
Shank's Pony: a tribute to the Desperate Bicycles
In 1977, the Desperate Bicycles were the most influential punk DIY band in
London that nobody knew about--but everybody copied. Lyrically they were a
politically charged group of urban bikers whose song "Cars" said simply "I
hate cars" and "I like bikes." "Smokescreen" backed with "Handlebars" was
their first single, self-recorded and released on their own label.
Likewise, we're a bunch of bike junkies who play our own psyche-garage music
in the self-powered spirit of the Desperate Bicycles.
