Greens have strongly supported this effort.

"We remain focused in our campaign to change the name of Faneuil Hall because this process represents a pathway to true dialogue and action on racial reconciliation in Boston. We now call Faneuil Hall Slave Trader's Hall until we find an appropriate name," said Kevin Peterson, founder of The New Democracy Coalition.

"Our sit-in at the place called Faneuil Hall was a way for Bostonians to stand up for racial justice and social repair in Boston. Changing the name of this building is really about changing the racial narrative in Boston which is stained with a legacy of hate and anti-Blackness. We must be mindful that Peter Faneuil was a white supremacist. His name should not adorn a public building in Boston."
