The new logo’s dark version, with the dark green rectangle background, might as well use the GPUS green diamond icon as background, providing the iconic link with GPUS in our visual minds.

While the rainbow does now represent LGBT..etc in many minds, it also represents our ethnoracial coalition history, and I hear it is common in the Abrahamic faiths as a symbol. While we should not shrink from advocating for LGBT…etc rights for political expediency, it might make sense to use a much smaller, less in-ones-face, rainbow within the sunflower & leaf icon.

So I picture big sunflower, a smaller leaf and a little rainbow on green diamond background.

The new logo’s light version, with only sunflower and leaf, could include a green diamond outline around these, and a little rainbow within.

We can not practically scrub ‘rainbow’ from our name, nor should we. But we can help link our name and our icon/logo by including a little rainbow. In interactions with public that ask about our rainbow name and icon feature, we can be ready with a brief, cogent explanation of uniting against oppression, including oppression of ethnoracial coaltiions, multifaith movements and LGBT… people.

Please let me add that I think the ‘MassGreens’ phrase, paralleling the ‘MassGOP’ and ‘MassDems’ phrases, makes great sense.
