John B letter, table for next meeting.
The agenda as modified is approved by consensus.
The May 28, 2020 Minutes are approved by consensus.
Possibility that GRP help collect signatures to put the GP Presidential Candidate on the ballot in Rhode Island. 5 min.
- Danny: What I know: GP FB page: Discussions about Greg Garret, head of GPRI, vote by GPRI Statecom decision 3:1 majority, voted that they will not be putting a GP Presidential Candidate on their ballot this year. “Collecting signatures during this pandemic is dangerous.” Ballot Access Committee strong reaction. Questioning if GPRI should lose their affiliation because affiliation with GPUS obligates GPRI to collect signatures and get GPUS candidates on the ballot! Not to debate what side we are on. Matt Andrews: offered to volunteer. Danny told the chair of the Ballot Access Committee that I would ask Adcom to form a volunteer coalition if they need to collect signatures. It is a one month period during the summer, July or August. Cochairs ask for volunteers?
- David Keil: Saw statement by GPRI: claim that having Greens on the ballot that would enable the election of Trump!!!! Does that make any sense?
- Lois: I agree. Agree that we should never stand down because of Trump.
-
David Gerry: ? to Danny: Who talking to?
- Danny: The Chair of the Ballot Access Committee.
- Joshua: I support asking GRP members to volunteer to collect signatures.
- With no concerns, Adcom supports asking GRP volunteers to collect signatures in Rhode Island to get the GPUS Presidential Nominee on the ballot.
- Danny will get a name from the GPUS Ballot Access Committee. Let them know we will volunteer, try to get people.
GRP Listserv Observer Policy
- Danny: Friendly amendment: Add: Any GRP member should be allowed on the listserv upon request, absent a valid security concern about the person. Sponsors accept friendly amendment.
- Adcom approves. This is list management, so Adcom only.
FINAL VERSION: GRP Listserv Observer Policy Proposal Sponsors: Joshua Gerloff and Mike Vaglica Committees from which you are requesting review and feedback: Techcom, Adcom and Statecom.
Proposal summary:
Financial impact: There is no financial impact unless we choose to find a different service. Implementation: This policy gives Techcom teeth to cut the fat on the GRP listservs. |
-
Mike V: Motion - Ask that it go to Statecom because it is more democratic.
- Danny: Support, but may disagree at the Statecom meeting.
- Danny: No concerns? Then add to a future Statecom.
- Joshua: Can DG act on it?
- Danny: Not if we send to Statecom for transparency purposes.
- John: Friendly amendment: Make an announcement to Statecom.
- Danny: If no concerns from Mike V, let Statecom know that we are doing this and asking for input.
- Proposal is actionable by Techcom, but Statecom may comment on it in a future meeting.
Chapter Reports:
- Greater Boston Chapter (GBC): John: Struggling to get an invite list for Boston Regional Convention, not rushing because we consider it an exercise in party building. Chapter voted to resubmit to ask Statecom to seat all Boston regional Electeds.
- Pioneer Valley Chapter (PVC): Lois: Busy. Lost opportunity to recruit for local office. How to be of service to BLM. Stand out at Providence Hospital, closing of the overnight beds for juvenile . Belchertown BLM protest at town common, try to recruit green people.
- Metrowest Chapter: David Keil: Linda active. David lives in Natick. Great atmosphere at the racial justice protests.
- Assabet River Valley Chapter (ARVC): Danny: Standing out. Terra as well. Other standout in front of Concord Prison. Put that off because of covid-19. Hopefully soon. Barbara Clancy taking a leave of absence from chapter and Legcom, might issue a statement, problem with Statecom decision to not seat all Statecom members elected at Regional Convention. Concerned also about the Statecom Presidential Ballot and proposal to remove David Rolde. Chapter voted unanimously is to go through and approve all other Regional Convention electeds, the express purpose of the Statecom 6/16/2020.
- North Shore Chapter (NSC): Joshua: Nothing. Lost members. Dead in the water.
Statecom 6/16/2020:
- Danny: ARVC voted that Statecom should seat all Regional Convention electeds. Democracy demands that this be the express purpose of this next Statecom meeting.
- Joshua: RB issued Statecom agenda already.
-
Joshua: Other way to seat people?
- Danny: Not consistent with CD amendment: not random appointments , it was to go through the regional conventions and appoint as we see fit. ARVC: look at Regional Convention and enlarge Statecom or come up with a reason to not enlarge Statecom. We could go for months with this smaller Statecom, approving business without the larger Statecom.
- Lois: Agree with the interpretation of CD amendment.
Round Robin:
Joshua: Challenging start. Good meeting
Lois: good.
Danny: Very good meeting.
John: Good meeting. tough start. thank you. positive outcome.
Mike V: Short and complete.
David Keil: Thanks all. Looking forward to next week.
