STOP CRIPPLING SANCTIONS ON HAITI AND CUBA!

A statement from our co-chairs:

What kind of crazy world do we live in where a country blockades food, medicine, and the right to world trade, and then, when the people suffer from starvation and contagions, they decide to jump in and attempt to overthrow its government in the name of "humanitarian assistance”?

This hypocrisy of the United States and its subservient allies with their centuries-long colonial oppression towards the global south and nations of color is the Achilles' heel of world peace and justice. Our history is replete with the carnage of war.

That history must now change. The chaos in the Caribbean must not become exacerbated by US/European or outside interference.

Recent history demonstrates that US humanitarian assistance turns into humanitarian tragedy: Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia just in this century alone.

Now, once again, We stand on the brink of killing more innocent lives to “save” them from our crippling sanctions. The Haitian people have experienced over 200 years of US/European exploitation, interventions, and neglect. The Cuban people have suffered enormously for 60 years from US sanctions which the global community through the UN, demands to be lifted. Only the US and Israel vote in opposition to this universal international condemnation.

The Green-Rainbow Party demands our national political leaders cease their preference for war. It is time to end the practice of collective punishment via sanctions, blockades, and clandestine and interference in the internal affairs of other countries. We must release patent control over needed vaccines and allow the Cuban and Haitian people the right of self-determination.

It is great to see our party speaking up, stating the truth that others choose not to see and clearly demonstrating an alternative to our twin parties of War and Wall Street. John Blumenstiel
