NRGR 4th quarter 2016 Report

NRGR report to State Committee – January 7, 2017 (includes data prepared for October 1, 2016 report)

Since the July State Committee meeting, the Nashua River chapter has met 5 times, with an average attendance of 11. Four more newcomers/curious former Sanders supporters are included among these attendees.

Our chapter members’ energies focused mainly on support for Charlene DiCalogero’s State Rep campaign up through Election Day in November. The entire chapter came out in full force to make Charlene’s campaign kickoff event on August 20 a big success. The chapter paid for a table at Worcester’s September 10 Pride festival out of its resources – Charlene and David marched in the parade, and the Vaillettes helped us to staff the information booth and greet interested passersby afterwards.

We are pleased to report that Charlene raised well over $2,000 (in contributions limited to $100 per donor), a subset of her team of 26 volunteers visited about 750 households through door-to-door canvassing, and she received 3,918/19.7% of the vote across her district in her first campaign (all this against a well-entrenched incumbent legislator).

Meanwhile, members of Nashua River Green-Rainbow have also maintained their active involvement in monitoring and supporting the anti-foreclosure movement’s efforts in Worcester, getting the statewide PassMass referendum onto the ballot, and mobilizing local efforts against various pipeline proposals in both Shrewsbury and Grafton.
