BALLOT SET FOR GREEN-RAINBOW PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

In the March 6, 2012 presidential primary, Massachusetts voters will have a choice of three candidates running for President of the United States on the Green Party ticket.  The three candidates will be Kent Mesplay,  Harley Mikkelson, and Jill Stein.  Delegates to the Green Party nominating convention will be awarded in proportion to the vote each candidate wins in the primary.  The Green-Rainbow Party is the state affiliate of the Green Party of the United States.

The ballot list was officially submitted to the Secretary of the Commonwealth on December 28.

Kent Mesplay works as an air quality inspector in San Diego, California.  He ran unsuccessfully for the Green Party nomination in 2008.  Harley Mikkelson has retired from a 26 year career with the Michigan Departments of Community Health, Education, and Human Services.  Jill Stein is a physician and community health advocate who ran as the Green-Rainbow Party candidate governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and 2010.  Further information about the candidates can be obtained from their websites,  www.mesplay.org,  harleymikkelson.com, and www.jillstein.org.

Delegates to the Green-Rainbow Party state committee will also be elected in the March primary.  The 2012 Green Party convention will be held July 12-15 in Baltimore, Maryland.   The presidential nominee of the Green Party will appear on the Massachusetts ballot in November, as well as on the ballot in approximately 42 other states.  In addition, Green-Rainbow Party candidates for the Massachusetts state legislature will appear on the November ballot.
