CDLC 2nd Quarter Report 2018

Candidate Development and Legal Committee, Committee and Candidates Report

July 12, 2018

CDLC currently has 3 active members: Charlene DiCalogero, John Andrews (co-chairs), Maureen Doyle (Administrative Secretary). We are in need of 2 to 3 new members in order to keep up with the tasks of talking to potential candidates, updating our candidate support documents, and monitoring campaigns. Anyone interested in joining CDLC should contact the co-chairs Charlene DiCalogero or John Andrews.

We hope that two former members will rejoin later in 2018 or at the beginning of 2019, or that we will have new folks in those positions.

1. Recruitment of Candidates and Volunteers

We have been recruiting candidates, and volunteers to campaigns, through chapters, chapters in formation, and personally at events. The Team Green-Rainbow Statewide Candidates Working Group (TGR) will have a separate report.

2. Current Candidates or Potential Candidates

Eight (8) candidates are announced as running for office so far in 2018. Two local candidates won their elections. Three State Rep candidates are on the ballot; 3 statewides are currently collecting signatures. Three regions in the state are represented and all have active chapters. We encourage GRP members to donate to and work for these candidates, and contact people you know in the State Rep districts to alert them they have a GR choice.

NOTE: All State Rep candidates are seeking Campaign Managers. Please contact CDLC if you or someone you know would be interested.

3. Reporting to GPUS

We forwarded info on our current candidates to Mike Feinstein and Chantal for the GPUS database. We have not yet forwarded data for our late fall special election campaign to Mike Feinstein and Chantal .

Charlene DiCalogero, State Senator Special Election, Worcester & Middlesex: 4-way race, 1.3% of the vote

CDLC has been requested to supply names and basic info on candidates as they officially attain ballot status. While we will do the best we can, our priority is candidate support.

4. CDLC webpages and candidate support docs

While CDLC did not update our webpages in a general way this quarter, we know that statewide candidates appear on the website. We have more support docs to update.

5. Candidate List

We have about 48 people on our "Current" list of people we are mentoring. This number is considerably higher than our committee members have the ability to maintain contact with. We continue to attempt to winnow out those people who have not stayed in contact with us.

6. Current Elected and Appointed Members

We believe the following are currently in elected or appointed office as GRP. The first 9 are elected, the rest appointed.
