Caucuses

A caucus is a group of Green-Rainbow Party members who organize based on an identity or issue.

A caucus:

  • Exists within the GRP and, as such, functions under the GRP Bylaws and organization structure.
  • Offers the opportunity to GRP members to build community around and focus activities on issues specific to an identity or area.
  • Educates the larger party membership about issues related to the caucus mission.
  • May give voice to their members within the Green Party US, through membership on the National Committee and other leadership bodies.

A caucus must :

  • Be certified by the GRP Administrative Committee.
  • Have at least 2 members.
  • Limit its focus to its stated mission.
  • Hold an initial meeting and meet at least once per year.
  • Report activities to the GRP State Committee at least quarterly.

To be certified, a caucus must:

  • Submit to the GRP Administrative Committee, a mission statement stating the name and focus of the caucus.
  • Receive approval by the Administrative Committee.
  • Continue to meet its purpose and responsibilities stated above.

In the Green Party US, caucuses function as Identity Caucuses: a grouping of Greens that has historically failed to attain adequate access to power in society at-large and/or within the Green movement.  Currently, the national party includes Black, Latinx, Lavender, Women's and Youth Caucuses.

Caucuses help bring greater diversity to the Green Party. Each caucus has its own mission statement and activities. You can contact a GRP caucus below, or propose a new caucus by submitting your request to [email protected].

We organize and act to advance Women's rights and concerns within the GRP and in the country at large with the ultimate goals of maximizing the Women's vote for the Green Party, participation of Women at all levels of the Party and a voter, activist, leadership, candidate and officeholder base of Women that is reflective of the great diversity of this nation. In keeping with the Green Key Values of diversity, social justice and feminism, we support full legal and political equality for all persons regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity, characteristics, and expression.
