Three Candidates Unite to Challenge Beacon Hill

On Saturday, April 28 we ask you to join the three Massachusetts Green-Rainbow candidates as they launch their campaigns to challenge the Democratic and Republican dominance on Beacon Hill.  Stops are planned in Pittsfield and Holyoke. A separate kick-off in Boston is planned for May 1. The Green-Rainbow State Committee has formally endorsed six party members to run for both state offices and local representative seats. Their campaigns draw from a platform focused on social justice, equal opportunity, ecological wisdom, non-violence and community-based empowerment. Act to Stop the War in Syria!

The Green-Rainbow Party of Massachusetts endorses April 14th Tax Day mobilizations across the state to protest tax cuts for the rich, military spending, and the escalation of conflict in Syria.The politicians in Washington DC have a bipartisan consensus to mobilize for war and funnel more wealth to the rich.  President Trump has threatened missile strikes against Syria over Twitter, despite the presence of Russian forces.  The risk of this conflict escalating out of control is dire.  Far from being a voice for peace, Democrats have ramped up their McCarthyite rhetoric by accusing Trump of being too soft on Russia. Stein and Honkala arrested in protest of foreclosure giant Fannie Mae

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein [also a long-time Green-Rainbow Party member] and her vice presidential running mate Cheri Honkala were arrested today [August 1, 2012] during a protest at the offices of mortgage company Fannie Mae on Banker's Row in Philadelphia. Among those arrested along with Dr. Stein and Ms. Honkala were labor lawyer James Moran and Sister Margaret McKenna of the Medical Mission Sisters. An attorney who supports civil disobedience cases is providing legal assistance. All of those arrested are expected to come before a judge early on Thursday morning. At that time bail will either be set or they will be released on their own recognizance. The protest was originally called for by the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign to demand that the giant mortgage company halt foreclosure proceedings against two Philadelphia residents in danger of losing their homes. Stein joined the protest after Cheri Honkala joined her as Stein's vice presidential running mate. Honkala, a former homeless single mother, has been confronting banks and mortgage companies for decades demanding that they adopt policies that will, "keep families in their homes."   Continue reading
